There is so much to see around the Minho region and, as Casa do Alto is almost in the center of this region it is an ideal base for this area of the country.

Braga is the nearest big city to Casa do Alto and is an exciting city with many historical sites to visit, such as the oldest Cathedral in Portugal. Excellent local and international gastronomy can be enjoyed in the many restaurants available in and around Braga, served with a wide range of the exquisite wines which Portugal is renowned for.

There is also a “touristic triangle” composed by the three famous churches of “Bom Jesus”, “Sameiro” and “Stª Marta” which are well worth a visit.

Local cities/towns

The property is within 6 km of the city center of the historical, bustling city of Braga and 50 km from the city of Porto. There is a bus service available from Oporto International Airport into Braga city bus station. Road and rail links are also excellent (A3, A7 and A11 motorways).


Sightseeing

Historical sites dating from the Celts, such as Citânia de Briteiros is close to Casa do Alto and there are also superb scenic National and Natural Parks within easy reach of Casa do Alto.


Beaches

The seaside towns of Povoa de Varzim, Vila do Conde, Esposende and Ofir are about 20 minute’s drive away and there is a riverside beach within 5 minutes’ drive from the property on the river Cavado.
