Grain and many other crops used to be grown and stored in the farmhouse and the ground floor apartment used to be the stables for the animals. It has been restored recently. However, the main character has been preserved and the original stone walls are still in existence. One of the interior rooms has been converted into the kitchenette/bar area and is full of souvenirs (mainly hats!) from all around the globe. The collection was mainly built up by the owners (Peggy and Mario) but many friends have also contributed to this quirky, quaint space. There are also some antique settles to sit and relax in this area and, maybe, sip a tipple of the local wines.
If you decide to rent the top floor apartment you may enjoy relaxing in the privacy of one of the suites or decide to browse through the library in the main living/dining area. A superb jacuzzi is provided in the separate bathroom on this floor. The suites both have their own international TV provided but you can also watch TV in the comfort of the living/dining room area. The top veranda is a perfect spot to watch the spectacular sunsets and enjoy the view of the surrounding property and the Cavado River Valley.
The old kitchen on the middle floor has been renovated and converted into a large living/dining area where many events have taken place. The original fireplace, complete with the old wood fired stone oven, is still in situ and is used very often for roasting kid, lamb and fish in the old fashioned way.
Outdoors, relax in the surrounding gardens either in the shade of the old trees by the stone table or around the sunny swimming pool which is near the orchard. At the entrance, there is a large pinewood area with plenty of space to set up one of our hammocks and relax between the scented trees of this area.
