Casa do Alto (2172/AL) is an old renovated stone farmhouse which is nestled in the hillside of the Cavado river valley. It has 3 independent self contained floors, two of which (the upper and the ground floor) are available for rental. Its location is near the campus of the University of Minho.

There are exquisite views from all sides of the house. A part of the old Roman road into Braga is right on the back doorstep. The stone “eira” (or patio where they used to dry cereals) is one of the largest in the Minho area (484 m2) and many memorable events have taken place within this large area.

The perfect quiet place to stay as a base to tour around this area of Portugal or just chill out and relax within the grounds of the property itself (1 hectare) either in the surrounding garden, which includes a small wooded area with oaks, cork oaks, sweet chestnuts amongst many other varieties of trees.

It also has a large, secluded private swimming pool with a magnificent view over the orchard which includes a wide variety of fruit trees such as orange, lemon, tangerine, kaki, apple, pear, fig, cherry, kiwi, grapes, apricot, peach, plum and many others. Next to the pool there is an outdoor kitchen with barbecue, changing room, bathroom and gym.

There is also a second outdoor kitchen with log oven and barbecue beside a large stone table in the shade of a large oak, in a shaded area of the grounds. As you enter the farmhouse gates there is a small pine wood with adjoining linden and walnut trees which sweeps up the driveway on the left hand side.
